Today we heard strange noises coming from the upper auxiliary station. Knocking, scratching, and grinding are not typical sounds at an observatory. Upon entering the station, we discovered an unknown plumber working on drain pipes. When asked what he was doing, he spoke of preventing condensation through air circulation, automatic humidity measurement, and an exhaust fan. Given the toilet pipes that had been installed, this seemed highly implausible to us, and we suspect the unauthorized installation of a new toilet. We left it at that for now, but will continue to monitor the situation critically, especially since we will not be paying for new sanitary facilities under any circumstances.
