Jamie suddenly showed up at our facility and immediately asked if he could join us. Of course he can, and we gave him access to our light buckets right away. Jamie says he’s passionate about astronomy and astrophotography. He took up this hobby because he wants to explore space and learn more about it. He’s particularly fascinated by the possibility of observing and photographing celestial bodies himself with a telescope. For his first shot of Saturn, he used a Celestron C11 in our school lab with a ZWO ASI120MC camera. He recorded a video about 2.5 minutes long, which was then processed into a detailed image of Saturn through image stacking. These images marked a special first step for him into astrophotography and his new hobby.
He also happened to take a very beautiful photo of our telescope tower with the Milky Way in the sky, and we’re wondering just how he managed to do that. We congratulate him on his success and are delighted to have him with us!
