A brief report by the School Observatory Project Group, Freiherr-vom-Stein Gymnasium, Betzdorf-Kirchen
During our visit to the school observatory in Waldbröl from September 2 to 3, 2026, we first explored the various school stations and then took a tour of the observatory. During the tour, we attended a presentation on spectroscopy as well as the history of the observatory and its various telescopes. There were also fruit trees on the grounds, which we were able to examine and whose fruit we got to taste. In between, we enjoyed some pizza. In the evening, we finally observed the sky through the telescopes. Among other things, we were able to observe the Moon, Saturn, and the Dumbbell Nebula. After the observations, we cleaned up together. Overall, the visit to the student observatory was very interesting and educational.
