Collecting photons…

Astrophotographers collect as many photons as possible and therefore have to expose their images for a long time – or they use several telescopes simultaneously. We have three identical telescopes and cameras in our school lab. So why not point all telescopes at a single target object and triple the exposure time? No sooner said than done – and a small club team took on the task. However, the weather was not only perfect for observing, but also for a barbecue to fortify ourselves for the night. We always say that roasting sausages is part of an astronomer’s core competence. Now we are all looking forward to the result… rumor has it that it is a galaxy.
