The digital controller, its software and new encoders for our large telescope have now arrived from the USA. We will not only be able to control the telescope but also to completely compensate for structural mechanical distortions as well as gear deviations. This will provide the highest positioning and tracking accuracy in the range of arc seconds. Via a planetarium program, target objects in the sky can be approached and tracked at the click of a mouse. With the control system, the digital focusing, the pneumatic mirror support and the electromechanically controlled mirror doors, we achieve the desired professional status of our main instrument.
