Our colleagues Katharina, Lilly, Lucia and Sophia from the Aggertal-Gymnasium in Engelskirchen have meanwhile not only familiarized themselves with the telescopes of our school lab but also helped us with the installation of the control system for the large telescope. A puzzling English instruction manual caused not only general incomprehension but also particular confusion for our association chairman – if you want to operate the control system, you should at least connect the cables. Also the correct allocation of a communication port on the computer was then rather mastered by our young colleagues than by the old hands (with emphasis on ‘old’). When the essential control parameters were finally set correctly, the four of them soldered the corresponding cables to the connectors. Our chairman is also a trained electronics engineer and he did not miss the chance to judge the soldered joints very strictly. The ladies passed…
