Lunar eclipse 2019

The total lunar eclipse in the early morning of 21 January 2019 was to be observed in the Bergisches Land with clear sky in its full course. The cover picture shows the view of the moon entering the core shadow of the earth (upper picture line from right to left), during the total eclipse phase (middle picture line from left to right) and leaving the core shadow (lower picture line from right to left). The first text image was exposed longer in order to document that even during the partial eclipse phases the lunar parts in the Earth’s shadow glow red. The circle in the second text image describes the Earth’s shadow. One recognizes that the moon did not go through the center of the earth shadow on 21 January.
