The observatory is officially opened

Together with our sponsors and helpers we celebrated the opening of the observatory on May 6. The appreciation of the supporters by our association board (Dr. Thomas Eversberg), greetings from the Oberbergischer Kreis (deputy district administrator Friedrich Wilke) and the city of Waldbröl (mayor Larissa Weber) as well as views of a professional astronomer about our project (Prof. Dr. Anthony Moffat – Montréal) were framed by music of Joseph Haydn (“Engelskirchener Trio”). Our teachers in the association (Frank Bohlscheid, Günter

Dombrowski, Peter Stinner) then presented our work and possible school activities. Finally, our young association colleagues Lucia Gröger and Sophia Wick reported on their view of the school observatory. After the ceremonial unveiling of the sponsor plaques on the front of the building, the social part was officially opened with snacks and conversations.

What will be remembered? Smiling supporters, an outlook on the next generation, an appreciation from the research community – and French fries with currywurst!
