Our fiberglass dome was in urgent need of repair. The running surfaces of the dome slit were in a catastrophic condition and made a terrible noise when the slit was opened. We already had concerns about opening the dome at all for observations. A regional metalworker has now installed a solid and durable slit for us. We have thus restored one of the structures to a reasonable condition so that future generations will be able to operate our main telescope safely.
