Teachers from the Marienheide and Betzdorf comprehensive schools want to use the observatory with their pupils in the near future. To this end, they discussed with us the astronomical possibilities on site, a possible school program and the corresponding practical conditions. After a brief tour and presentation of our entire range of instruments, we discussed a feasible way to get young people interested in the subject. We are planning a first observation session including an overnight stay at the observatory. First of all, we want to give young people a first insight into astronomical observations, be it in the form of visual or photographic observations. After that, we want to help students to implement their own first practical wishes with observation programs. Personal experiences of success serve as a guideline from which independent work can grow. The teachers and their school groups should serve as a blueprint for our further work.
