Welcome to the Girls’Day at April 27 at the school observatory Waldbröl/Schnörringen. The Schnörringen Telescope Science Institute (STScI) operates an observatory for youngsters in Waldbröl with the largest telescope in North Rhine-Westphalia. We want to awaken in young people the passion for technology and the natural sciences that drives us ourselves. Here we give teachers and students with their Astro groups the opportunity to use our student telescopes. Depending on the weather or your wishes we have an evening program (from 9 pm) or a lunch program (from 11 am). On Girlsday you will take part in a guided tour of the observatory and learn about the profession from an astrophysicist. The highlight is our three observation stations in the student laboratory. With these you can observe and photograph the moon and Mars from 10 pm. For those who want to stay a little longer, there is the possibility to photograph the Galaxy M109. If it is cloudy in the evening, we offer to move the event to noon. Here you will have the opportunity to photograph our sun and its outbursts with our solar telescope. We are looking forward to your registrations and to share our enthusiasm for astronomy with you.
